The Dallas Titans dropped a 10-1 decision to the DFW Rivals on Friday at The Parks at Texas Star as the Rivals combined an early offensive outburst with a dominant pitching performance to secure the victory.
DFW Rivals took control from the outset, scoring in the first inning behind Joe Aguilar's two-run single. They continued to build their lead throughout the game, finishing with 12 hits and five stolen bases.
Carlos Cordero earned the win for the Rivals, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out six and walking two. Brenden Monroe took the loss for the Titans despite recording eight strikeouts over five innings. He allowed six runs, four of them earned, on eight hits while walking two.
Jacob Calderon, Colton Connolly, Brenden Monroe, and Eric Bruner accounted for the Titans' four hits, with Connolly driving in Dallas' lone run. The Titans also turned a double play defensively.
The Rivals were led offensively by Sean Kelly, who went 4-for-4 at the top of the lineup. Aguilar finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Kevin Young and Marc Stoneburner each added multiple hits. Brandon Hood swiped three bases as the Rivals finished with five stolen bases and played error-free defense.
